E-toll

From 1 July 2013, our country has also introduced the electronic toll system proportional to the distance travelled, which affects the designated Hungarian road network with a total length of 6513 km used by vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight.

GSGroup MyFleet Zrt. – is the official reseller of on-board units suitable to declare fee – provides on-board devices (so-called „On Board Unit”, briefly OBU) by which you can fulfil your fee payment obligations.

Vehicles exceeding 3.5 tons of allowed maximal weight shall pay fees. The extent of fee proportional to the travelled distance depends on the type of road used (motorway, speedway or main road), the vehicle category (J2, J3, J) and the emission standards.

Vehicles exceeding the 3.5 tons of allowed maximal weight are categorised based on the number of axles: J2 refers to two axles, J3 refers to three axes, while the J4 category of vehicles have four (or more) axles.

The Hungarian Government Assigned National Toll Payment Services Ltd. (Nemzeti Útdíjfizetési Szolgáltató Zrt.) to perform toll road collection and universal toll service jobs, but the company will play an important role in supporting the audit as well. As a toll collecting entity, Nemzeti Útdíjfizetési Szolgáltató Zrt. Is liable to levy and collect the toll proportional to the distance travelled, as a toll service provider, it shall allow to all road users to pay the toll, and in its auditing function it provides the controlling authority (police) with data on unauthorised road users.

Introduction of HU-GO

  • It makes cost payment more equitable because everybody pays in proportion to the actual road usage;

  • It increases the additional income arising from the toll for the Hungarian state, which allows financing the maintenance of the ever enlarging road network at the appropriate level;

  • It allows for users to travel on short distances on roads;

  • It increases proportionally the transport costs, so it makes the entrepreneurs interested in responsible road use (thus reducing the environmental and infrastructure costs of empty runs).

You can information on the electronic toll collection system proportionate to the distance travelled on the pages of HU-GO.

Types of on-board units:

The on-board unit is a device that is developed specifically to measure distances travelled on toll-roads and based on such information, the toll payable is calculated and declared automatically. The advantage of OBU's is that they can be started up simply (they are ready to use upon being plugged into the cigarette lighter) thus, they can be removed from one vehicle to another, if necessary.

OBU S-550

The main advantage of the device is its small size and ease of installation. The on-board unit informs the user by using light signals on its status of operation and on the toll balance. We recommend the device especially for users that prefer simplicity and reliability.

OBU S-900

The S-900 premium series efficiently supports the simple and fast modification of the changing axle numbers of vehicles. Its display is clear, it provides detailed information in 8 languages - including Hungarian - on the operating conditions and the toll balance. The axle number can be set and the toll balance can be queried via a menu system simply. The unit warns the driver on condition changes by sound alarms. We recommend this type to users that often use toll roads in changing circumstances.
